Wow, this was not what I was expecting. First off, it would have been extremely helpful for those of us not full on marks, to include a brief bio of each person you interviewed. While I knew many of them at varying levels, I knew nothing about others, and the author gave no details as to who thy were.Secondly, it was obvious large parts of the conversation were left out for one reason or another. References to people or events were left unanswered at numerous points in the book, like somehow all the readers knew the answer already?Thirdly, half the answers to “do you remember†questions were “yea, I remember thatâ€, and that was it! Really?? That’s it? No details about the program, opponent, etc...? Horrible inability of the author to ask the obvious follow up questions.Having Bob Backlund repeat stories from his own book, c’mon, how lazy is that? You couldn’t get anything original out of him?Overall, the second worst book about pro wrestling I have ever read, and I have read A LOT of them!Read this during a flight home, quick read, but didn’t provide any insight into any of the subjects whatsoever. Not sure if that was due to the author not willing to print it, or just to afraid to ask any questions that might lead to something interesting.Unless you have a burning need to read something to put you to sleep, try another book.
I found this book to be extremely enjoyable and entertaining. I could say I couldn't put it down, but I did, once. I read it in two readings as I was so caught up the interesting stories from some of the all time greats in professional wrestling. This book is a must read for all old school wrestling fans. I also enjoyed seeing a couple of letters from The Wrestling Observer in the back. To me, that was an added bonus, as I was a fan of the sheets especially during this time as I was a fan of, "Bowdren the Booker."
Great narrative----I grew up watching all the wrestlers interviewed----Brought back many memories---Particularly of Tampa,Championship Wrestling from Florida and especially the late,great Eddie Graham.I have read most of Scott Teal's books on wrestling and they have all been terrific.
Couldn't put the book down. A must own for any old school wrestling fans. My fingers are crossed that their will be a sequel!
Good read. It's always fascinating to hear from the pro wrestling legends I grew up with. If you like knowing what goes on behind the dressing room door, this is a fine book

This is something different. You have a bunch of wrestling fanatics of the Florida wrestling days who get together and organise for a wrestler to have dinner with them and they pick his brain during the meal.The wrestling fans are a knowledgeable group who know their 1980's wrestling extremely well and judging from the interviews, they have a great time with the legends they dine with.Some of the stars on display in this fine book are Terry Funk, Paul Orndorff, Ric Flair, Mick Foley, Jerry Lawler and many more.A really fine addition to the wrestling library especially if you are an old school fan like myself.
