An in depth study of the Master Potter Lucie Rie. Researched and footnoted in a scholarly manner. The format and the pictures of Lucie Rie's work are disappointing. After buying this book I bought Tony Birks 1987 Lucie Rie book which has a much more satisfying format (bigger, glossy paper and great photographs by Hans Coper's wife Jane Coper). As aworking potter Birk's book is much more valuable to me. Cooper's book includes Lucie's career from 1987 to her death in 1995.
I have been curious about Lucie Rie's life and this is an excellent book about her life journey and development as an important force in the world of pottery.
What an incredible lady and what a great book about her, her life, her work and her times. I treasured each page. There are pictures but I longed for more!
This book should be read by everybody who is interested in ceramics.it's part of our modern art history.Very interessting.Thank you.
